Local charity Brighter Futures will benefit from a donation by software development company XRM to support their work with Jersey parents, families, and young people.
The charity helps up to 150 families at a time in three key areas: second chance learning programmes, parent-child relationships, and mental health and wellbeing programmes. Since 2008, they have supported over 1,600 families and benefited over 5,000 islanders.
Ruth Brunton, CEO of Brighter Futures said: “Brighter Futures were honoured to be chosen by XRM to be one of three charities to receive a donation of £6,100. With this funding we are able to support and sponsor 1.5 families in Jersey for a whole year.”
Ruth continues, “Families come to us from a variety of backgrounds and for a variety of reasons such as suffering from post-natal depression, addiction or anxiety, or experiencing isolation or abuse. These issues may only be temporary, but they can have a lifelong impact on children. By engaging families from the birth of a child, we can help shape these crucial first early years of a child’s life.”
Simon Jackson, Founder and Director at XRM said: “I’m personally delighted to be able to support Brighter Futures. As a child I had a difficult start in education in London that led to continual support to improve my reading and writing. There’s huge value in schemes like the Brighter Futures Second Chance Learning programme that supports parents and carers succeed in education, work, and life.”
